A spooky way to start the day...
A spooky start to the school holidays with our ghost on toast. 👻 An easy, fun and cheap brekkie to fuel the kids for a day of half-term fun.
Ingredients - 2 medium eggs whites and yolks separated
- 1 medium egg whole
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 slices white or brown bread
- 1 tbsp butter
- Ketchup or hot sauce for eyes and mouth
Method - Start by mixing your egg yolks, whole egg, milk, paprika, salt and pepper in a shallow bowl and set to one side.
- Using a small knife cut away a ghost shape from the centre of each slice of bread. Don't throw away the cut away piece of bread as this will be dunked and fried as well.
- Melt your butter in a large, non-stick pan over a medium heat. Dip all of your bread in your eggy mix and add the slices to the pan (you can fry your cut out ghosts later).
- Fry on one side for a minute until golden, flip, pour half of your egg whites into each ghost shape and fry for a further couple of mins until your egg white ghost is set. Remove from the pan and add your cut out ghosts and fry for 30 seconds each side.
- Dollop two ketchup/hot sauce eyes onto your egg white ghosts head followed by another dollop for a mouth, serve with your cut out ghosts and tuck in...
