The money raised will help to fund our ‘Building a Legacy Together’ grants for children’s hospices to help with much-needed building projects, renovations and outdoor equipment. We have already been able to distribute 11 of these before Christmas, funding projects like a new counselling room to support bereaved parents and a new specialist playground.Ruby and Sophia are identical twin girls with a rare genetic condition, which could cause full body paralysis at any moment. The twins, and their parents, Kevin and Lyndsey, have been supported by their local children’s hospice, Martin House in Wetherby since 2019, with regular respite stays and emergency visits to help treat their symptoms.
Lyndsey said, “It’s a chance for us to spend some quality time as a family without worry.”
Hospices like Martin House provide a lifeline for families with a seriously ill child just like Ruby and Sophia’s parents.
